The location does seem a logical choice for the reasons stated. However, that triangle of Sierra, Placerita, and SR-14 has always been the culmination point for thousands of commuters. Traffic this a.m. was backed up to the Via Princessa overpass - and that is without additional garbage trucks or the freight trucks that will be needed to take away the recycling. We have an active battle with CEMEX, citing concerns with truck traffic as a main point of contention. Why is this any different?

Regarding the consideration of a Recycle Dump in Canyon Country. We have more than enough traffic on I-14. We do not need our area assaulted by an influx of more truck traffic. Further the stores that are under construction at Golden Valley east of the I-14 will already add more traffic in our area. But this shopping traffic is more desireable than an influx of more trucking.
Thank you.

In addition to all of the problems that are associated with the Dirty MRF, has anyone considered the privacy issues of someone going through our trash? Of course we all should be shredding documents so that we don't become victims of identity theft, BUT most folks seldom do. Who will Burrtec attract to sift through our trash? I sure wouldn't do it! You suppose they might steal our personal information for identity theft?

Does anyone know who brokered the purchase of the 3 parcels of land on Sierra Highway that was purchased by Burrtec? Does anyone know who previously owned the land?
Bob Kellar is being investigated by the Fair Political Practices Commission. It will be interesting to see how that turns out.
The Political Reform Act (Gov. Code Sections 81000-
91014) requires most state and local government officials
and employees to publicly disclose their personal assets
and income. They also must disqualify themselves from
participating in decisions which may affect their personal
economic interests.

Great letter! I wish you had also addressed the traffic concerns along Sierra Hwy. and the 14 Fwy. ie. Emergency services could be delayed by many minutes with the addition of 800 trucks per day. Also, the "gunk" these trucks will track out of the waste site and the trash that inevitably flies out of said trucks will be all over the neighborhoods. This is a horrible area to develop in such a way. Thank you for taking a stand.

I can't understand why anyone would vote to put a recycling plant in a residential location. And why is that everytime there is an unpopular facility to be built, it's always destined for Canyon Country. This isn't a slum area!
